Thank You Ms. Jessica and Ms. Alyssa!

Ms. Jessica and Ms. Alyssa are Wyatt's teachers at The Sloan School. They are the best baby teachers I have ever worked with at the school. I left my digital camera with them today in hopes they would snag a few pictures of him in his cute outfit. Well, they captured some amazing pictures. I knew Wyatt was happy when he was with them but I had no idea he was this happy. Thank you Ms. Jessica and Ms. Alyssa for taking care of my precious child with such love, nurturing and compassionate hearts. We love you so much!

Another great thing about the school is that Wyatt doesn't get love just from his teachers but all the teachers. Alot of them go to the baby room during their specials, lunch or after work just to love on the babies. That just fills my heart with so much joy. It relieves me knowing that its okay that I'm not a stay at home mom because he is loved all day long by so many "mommies". It takes a village to raise a child anyway right?

My amazing boys!

When I looked at the picture below I started to tear up thinking about how much this picture means to me. This time last year I was struggling with the fact that yet someone else in my life was pregnant and it wasn't me. Was I ever going to get to hold and love and cherish a baby! Little did I know just a mere month later our 2 year (very long) wait for a precious baby would be over. It was so hard to wait and my faith was constantly challenged but when I look back today I am oddly enough grateful for the wait. It gave David and I more chances to bond as husband and wife through some pretty tough times and solidify our marriage even more before we bring this precious life into our world. We are amazed by our "bubby" every day and still can't believe God has blessed us with such a miracle. I hope we can live up to Wyatt's expectations. I know he has fulfilled everyone of ours and he can't even talk yet. So to my amazing boys I love you more than you will ever know!!! I have to stop typing now because I am crying tears of joy!!!

First Trip to the Park

Since it was such a beautiful day today we took Wyatt to the park for the first time. We have an awesome park by our house with walking trails and all kinds of things to do. Although Wyatt couldn't do anything but ride in his stroller he seemed to enjoy it. I think he is going to be a real outdoors boy! Just like his daddy!

This picture cracks me up. He looks like he's saying "Yeah, we're at the park. Big deal. I'd rather be at the deer lease."

We're sleeping thru the night!

I hope I'm not jinxing myself by posting this but for 4 nights in a row Wyatt has been sleeping through the night. Monday - 8 hrs, Tuesday - 7 1/2 hrs, Wednesday 8 1/2 hrs and last night 8 1/2 hrs. I am hoping since he has done it for 4 nights in a row that this is now reality. Please let it be true!!! We also upgraded his bottle nipples and diapers all this week. I can't believe how fast he's growing.

I absolutely love this picture of David and Wyatt. The second night he slept through the night Wyatt woke up at 6:00 am and while I was getting ready for work David fed him. At 7:30 am, right on time with the baby wise schedule Wyatt fell asleep. So did David (sort of). His eyes were open and I told him to close them so I could take the picture. My sleeping babies! So cute!

This video cracks us up. Wyatt is trying sooooo hard to suck his thumb. If he could just get his thumb out. He gets so frustrated at one point you'll hear him growl (towards the end). After I shot the video I put his pacifier in and he passed out. So precious!

Mystery Bird

One of the many benefits of living out here in the middle of nowhere is the wildlife. We have seen rabbits, foxes, coyotes, roadrunners and now this mystery bird. As much of a wildlife fanatic as David is he's not sure what this bird is. At first he thought it escaped from the Ft. Worth zoo. Last thought is its probably a really old male eagle. It is beautiful and very large. Check out it's claws. I was feeding Wyatt and David said you have to come see this bird. We got as close as 10 yards and the bird didn't even flinch. In fact, it was so not phased by our presence that he pooped. I know that doesn't sound funny but you had to see it. If you know what the bird is please let us know.

Besides the exciting wildlife adventure today everything else on the homefront was pretty boring. Wyatt and I hung out today while David showed houses. I think Wyatt is having a growth spurt because his afternoon was pretty cranky. But his morning was full of smiles. He melts my heart every time he smiles. We're getting geared up for the cowboy game tomorrow!!! Go Cowboys!!!!

So Much To Talk About

OUR HANDSOME MAN!

I was informed by a friend via text today that I needed to update my blog. I thought I didn't have much to blog about and started to think about what I would blog about and realized I have a lot. So Misty this is for you......

Wyatt will be 2 1/2 months tomorrow and he is growing by leaps and bounds every day. His teacher told me today he didn't eat much of his morning bottle because he was too busy talking. He gets that from his Daddy! He used to love to talk just in the morning with his Daddy but now he likes to talk all the time. The other night on the way home he talked to me for a good 15 minutes and then passed out for the rest of the car ride. Which he has gotten used to being in his car seat for 2 hours every day. He used to cry alot in the beginning but I think he finally realized you know what this is happening every day I better get used to it. We have realized that Wyatt has very strong leg muscles. He very easily stands in your lap when you hold him facing you. Sometimes he's so strong and trying to stand so much its hard to hold him while sitting down. He is also smiling so much. I still feel like I want to cry every time I see him smile because I just can't believe this beautiful baby is ours.

This past weekend for labor day David had to go to the deer lease to work the big dove hunt and I got a little scared because it was the first time for Wyatt and I to be left alone overnight. Although I didn't like it we did survive and we'll have to get used to it because in a couple months David will be going to the deer lease every weekend!!!! I"m hoping Wyatt's charm and smile will convince him either not to go or come home early!!! We'll see how well I can train Wyatt. My mom did come over on Monday to keep us company and gave me some free time to get a few things done. Because of course I don't like to leave Wyatt's side. If he's awake we are totally playing with him and I don't want to miss a single minute. I do think Wyatt got bored with me this weekend because we he was a little fussy if we weren't constantly doing something and he went to sleep easier if there was a lot of noise in the house. This is all because of the school. He's such a busy body and likes to know everything that is going on. In fact he hardly napped at school today because I think he was so excited to be back at school and be with his friends and favorite teachers!

I think we will be putting our house on the market soon. We did the "country thing" and are ready to move back to North Arlington. Especially me for 2 reasons: 1) long drive to work and 2) the drive is missed time with Wyatt. He's so tired after school and the car ride that when we get home sometimes he wakes up for his bottle and goes back to sleep. That doesn't work for me. I need some play time. Even though he's at school I don't get to play with him. David feeds him his 7 am bottle . I'll feed him on my lunch hour at 1 pm. Then David feeds him again at 7 pm and he usually does the 10 pm bottle because I'm either cleaning up after cooking or washing bottles and getting our bags ready for the next day. And then I feed him at 3 am. So..... I need my playtime with Wyatt. So if you know anyone interested in buying a beautiful 5200 square foot house in the booming town of Mansfield please send them our way!

First Laugh!

Oh my goodness. We were at my mom's house today to celebrate my Grandfathers 81st birthday. Wyatt gave him the best gift ever and laughed for the first time and my grandfather caught it on camera!

First Week of School

Well, we survived our first week back at school. The beginning of the week was great. I thought I can handle this getting up in the middle of the night, going to work, driving 2 hours every day, cooking dinner, giving wyatt a bath, and putting him to bed...And then thursday morning happened where I didn't even hear my alarm go off. It finally caught up to me. I was running on adrenaline at the beginning of the week and it quickly fizzled. Now I'm running on fumes. However, Wyatt and I did have a great first week. He is doing great on his schedule (thanks to the help of all the teachers) and seems to be adjusting to the long car ride. It was a great feeling for me to be back at work and constantly busy. However, I do miss spending time with Wyatt and he's so exhausted by the time we get home that he's passed out and we have to wake him up for his feedings and then he passes out again. So we don't get much playtime in, but I'm really hoping once he gets used to everything that will change. He makes up for it in the mornings, he is in a good mood and after David feeds him he is smiling and talking up a storm. We had to take him to the doctor on Friday morning because for 2 days he has been very congested. He has his first cold. I thought it might be allergies but she said it wasn't. It's probably because he's at school and is around a lot more germs than his body is used to. Despite the cold he seems to be doing pretty good. In fact Wednesday he started eating 5 ounces and at the doctors office we found out he ways a whopping 11 pounds. So cold or no cold the boy can still eat!

Last night Wyatt got to finally meet his Aunt Lindsay and Great Grandma and Great Granddad. He put on Quite the show for them with lots of talking and smiling.

2nd Day of School

It's official. I am now a working Mommy and boy am I tired. I think the first couple days I was running on adrenaline. I was ready to jump back in and get back into my groove. But, I think it has caught up to me because today I am beyond exhausted. It's 9 pm and I haven't even thought about eating dinner. If David hadn't said something I probably would not have eaten. It's great being back at work and having Wyatt with me. The toughest part has been when we get home we only have 3 hours to spend with him and he naps for an hour and a half of those 3 hours. Tonight I cheated and kept him up longer.

Wyatt is doing great at school and I know it's because of his awesome teachers-Ms.Jessica and Ms. Alyssa.

Today Wyatt is 2 months old! I am anxious to take him to his 2 month check up next week to see where he is in all his measurements. Since he was the only baby I saw for 7 weeks I thought he was getting "big". However, when I take him to school he seems very little. I forget though he is the youngest baby in the baby room so of course he's little. Everytime someone tells me that he's little I just remind myself to enjoy him even more because I know he won't be little for long.

Wyatt gets to meet his Great Grandparents on Friday and we are so excited! He also gets to meet his Aunt Lindsay who has been in Lubbock all summer. Hurry home Aunt Lindsey!

First Night Out

David and I went out last night for the first time since Wyatt was born. Friends of ours from Abilene were in town and asked us to go to the Ranger game. We said yes real fast! Well, after I checked to see if my mom could watch Wyatt because she is the only one I trust him with right now. Thanks again for watching him Mom! We had sooo much fun. We met up with them for a quick bite and drinks before the game. First margarita in 11 months and it was delicious...had a few before the night was over. I did have to cut myself off because I knew I still had to do a 2 am and 5 am feeding with Wyatt. We could not have asked for more perfect weather. After the game the ballpark had an awesome fireworks show and after it was over they put up live feed of the Olympics and it was on Michael Phelps. What an awesome feeling to be amongst thousands of americans chanting U.S.A. it gave me the goose bumps and a major feeling of pride. It was great for David and I to get out and act like Husband and Wife and not Mommy and Daddy for a few hours. I just hope we stay on top of our date nights. I think they are so important to maintaining a healthy relationship. The couple that we went out with are from Abilene and we have known them for years. The husband "Dan" and David met at A &M because David had gotten on the wrong bus and they became fast friends. Dan is what you would call a bit of a celebrity. He is the Chief Meteorologist for KTAB news in Abilene. So if you ever find yourself in Abilene tune it to KTAB news to see "Dan the Weatherman". The only picture I have to post is off the fireworks because I was going to get a picture of all of us after the game and my camera died. Must be all those pictures I'm taking of Wyatt.

4 Days Left

I have 4 days left before I go back to work :( I am ready to go back to work in a sense but will desperately miss my time with Wyatt. The time I will miss the most is being there when he wakes up from his nap and he's taking 5 minutes to stretch out and smiling. We have very indepth conversations during this time. Well, maybe I have very indepth conversations during this time. He's a great listener. It will be weird going back to work, because I have never been gone from a job before for 7 weeks. I'm ready to get back into the groove. Hopefully, I haven't forgotten too much. Even though I'll miss my "Bubby" how blessed am I that he gets to go to work with me! I'm sure I'll be "sneaking in" some loving thoughout the day.

First Smile?

I think I caught Wyatt's first smile today. He was talking up a storm in his bouncy seat so I grabbed my digital camera. As soon as I started talking to him I think he smiled. It's at the beginning of the video. The person talking may not sound like me because I'm talking in a real high pitch voice, but I promise it's me. What a happy day! Oh yeah, you have to watch the video side ways. I can't figure out how to turn it the right way. Makes it even more fun to watch!

6 Weeks Old Today

Again, I can't believe it but Wyatt is 6 weeks old today. I am overwhelmed with how much I love our "bubby" (that's our nickname for him-not sure why it's just what we started calling him). I also can't believe how much he has grown in the last 6 weeks. Everyone tells you to enjoy it while you can because they grow up so fast. You think, yeah, yeah, it doesn't seem like it's going very fast when your getting up at the 1 am and 5 am feedings. But today it really hit me. He really is growing up fast. I was looking at his newborn pictures and I can't believe how much he has changed. Not only in size but in personality. I'm pretty sure he's close to smiling back at us. He smiles all the time when he's about to doze off or while he's sleeping. Well I noticed last weekend he started smiling more with his eyes open and he wasn't sleeping. But he also wasn't looking at me. Then today when he got up from a nap (a very, very short nap) he was in the best mood. So I was talking to him like I always do and I swear I caught a smile. It was right after the picture taken above. I got teary eyed and so overcome with how incredibly blessed we are by this amazing little angel. How in the world did we ever live so long without him! The countdown is on until I have to go back to work (Aug 18th). I will miss my special times with Wyatt ( of course by special I do mean anytime I get to spend with him). Who knew you could love changing a diaper so much just to get to spend time with your precious child. We had to put Wyatt on medicine for Reflux. I wasn't sure if he really had it or not so I held off on calling the doctor. I'm not a big fan of immediately resorting to medicine to fix something. Well, after talking to friends with children that had reflux I do think Wyatt has it. If anything we caught it at the very beginning. He's been on the medicine for 2 days and seems to be doing better. Instead of crying when he wakes up he just hangs out in his bed and makes the most adorable cooing noises. As I'm typing this Wyatt is snuggled in his daddy's arm finishing his bottle so I better go sneak in some more time while I can.

Are you a Tigger or an Eyeore?

These pictures are in honor of the late Randy Pausch, author of "The Last Lecture". If you saw the Primetime special on him last week you'll know what I'm talking about. One of his life philosophies is "You can go through life as a Tigger or an Eyeore." This was eye opening for us and we choose to be Tiggers. I ordered his book and cannot wait to read it to implement some of his other life philosophies. 4 Weeks Old Today!

Well, we've hit another milestone. Wyatt is 4 weeks old today and where has the time gone. Our little man continues to amaze us as he grows and changes (it seems like) every day. We are still in awe that we have a child. David and I will still look at each other at the oddest moments and say " Oh my gosh, we have a baby!". I must say we have turned into quite the set of parents. At first we were scared to death and now we have adjusted and are just going with the flow. Going with the flow is now my daily motto. I tried putting him on the Baby Wise schedule last week and it didn't work too well. I had to remind myself that it's ok if he doesn't want to do the schedule yet and he will eventually sleep through the night. Well to our amazement he did go 6 hours last night without a bottle! Hopefully that's just the beginning. Today we are on a feeding schedule and it seems to be going well. He had a checkup yesterday and weighs 8 lbs and 11 ozs. The doctor said he's gaining weight like crazy. And I said because all he wants to do is eat and stay up and play. He does not sleep as much as you would think during the day. He is very active and wants to check out everything that's going on. And I have tried every tactic to get him to sleep and he just doesn't want to. The doctor said some babies like to sleep all day and some want to play. We have a player! I have 3 1/2 weeks left before I have to go back to work and I am enjoying every minute I can with Wyatt. I am so thankful that when I go back he will come with me to work. We are very excited the Ms. Jessica will be his first teacher!

2 weeks old today!!!

We just can't believe Wyatt is 2 weeks old today! Something else that amazes us is how much in love we our with our little man. He is the most precious thing to us and we can't imagine life without him. Even though he is not so precious when he decided to stay awake this morning from 3 am to 8 am. I finally woke David up and said your turn and all he did was love on wyatt for a minute and he fell right to sleep. He's Daddy's boy for sure. He had his 2 week checkup today and everything went great. He weighs 7 lbs 2 oz and grew in length 1 1/2 inches. He has already outgrown his preemie clothes. While the doctor was examining Wyatt she said he was going to be a very "active" child. I asked her why she thought that and she said he is very observant and looking all around and very strong. While he was getting his pku done he kicked the nurses tray off the table twice. She said he was the first baby to ever do that. Looks like we are going to have our hands full with our little man. Besides David and I being sleep deprived and our days and nights a little mixed up we are doing great! We are officially a happy little family!
